An example of the Unified Field and Traveling between the Worlds (Diora and the Orange Peels)

By Lisa Walters

One of the most extraordinary ways that horses communicate with us is through what I call the subtle realms. Others may call this way of communicating telepathic. I believe that in the truest sense of the word, telepathic could be accurate, but some have come to attach a mystical sense to this word that it may not warrant. What I have come to call telepathic communication with horses is the process of communication whereby they transmit information to us via feelings and pictures, or ideas. When I first started receiving telepathic information from my horses, I was amazed at how simple it was. It was simply, tele(to send or transmit) and pathic (through an emotion, feeling), or compassionate connection (the unified field). I found that I could not receive the telepathic messages if I was not in a peaceful, open and grounded state with my horse.

When my Arabian mare Diora was about 3 years old, she started having stronger heat cycles as part of her maturing process. She started to get a lot more jumpy than she had been in the past, and her tastes in food changed as well. It was not uncommon to find her grazing on raspberry leaves instead of pasture grass. She also started appreciating all types of flowers (in my garden and off my deck). Years later, when I myself was pregnant, I found out that raspberry leaves are very toning to the female system and calming to the nervous system. Diora’s culinary adventures were founded in her efforts to self-medicate. During this time, Diora also took a real liking to orange peels. Not the orange fruit itself, just the peel. She would go crazy for orange peels, begging like a kid in a candy store.

Years later I had moved to the Northern California Coast. Diora was a happy, mature mare enjoying her life with our small herd. I had recently had a baby and was only riding on occasion. When I did find some precious spare time to ride, I usually wanted to continue my dressage training with my Warmblood gelding, Johan. Diora was not getting the same amount of attention that she had been used to.

One afternoon I answered a knock on my front door. A young woman introduced herself as Anna, and said that while she felt she was going out on a limb, she wanted to share her story about my horse with me. She said that she’d been having dreams with a specific “bay” mare in them. The dreams were very pleasant and reminded her of the years when she had her own horse and would ride and relax around the barn, soaking up the horse atmosphere. Then she said that one day on her way to work, while driving by our pasture, she looked up and saw “the horse in her dream!” She had no doubt that the mare in our pasture was the very same horse that was in her dreams. Anna proceeded to ask if it would be all right for her to come and visit the mare sometimes. I said “of course,” but I wanted to spend some time with her down at the barn to make sure she had adequate horse safety skills before I turned her loose with my horses. We made a date and after a couple of meetings I felt so confident with her abilities that I even gave her permission to come and ride Diora on occasion. Anna was very grateful and continued her relationship with Diora on a fairly regular basis. Diora seemed thrilled to have the attention.

One day, Anna called me and said she had a very strange question. She noticed that every time she came to the barn and was around Diora, she started thinking about orange peels. She said that this had been going on for some time now, long enough to get her attention. She wondered if orange peels were something that horses could eat because she kept getting the feeling that Diora wanted orange peels! I was once again amazed at the skillful communication skills of my horse. I proceeded to tell Anna of Diora’s history with orange peels. She brought the mare her orange treats and I’m sure the two of them deepened their connection and relationship through this experience. This story is an excellent example of the different “realms” that horses travel or exist in, where they connect with each other and with us.

One way that this story can be viewed is in terms of what it means to be connected at the level of the unified field. It may be that at the level where we are all connected, it is not so much a matter of transmitting a thought as it is simply having an “awareness of being.” When we are at the level where Diora’s thought or desire exists, all there is to do is to sense it and interpret what we are sensing. If it is true that part of the nature of the unified field is timeless communication, then it stands to reason that when we are conscious at that level, we needn’t do anything, just “be” there and be aware. If we are unified, there is no distance, no space or time to transmit through.

When we interact with horses with open minds and hearts we become receptive to more aspects of their true nature. The process of these interactions can help us strengthen our “conscious “ muscle and thereby become more sensitive and aware in all aspects of our lives.
