Lisa Walters
Lisa
has over 40 years experience with horses. She has competed in
many equestrian disciplines and has been a student of dressage for the
past 30 years. Lisa helped develop and implement the Equine Facilitated
Learning Internship program for Adventures In Awareness and is part of
the Adventures In Awareness internship faculty. Lisa is founder and
director of the EquuSatori Center in Sebastopol CA. where she
facilitates and hosts Equine Facilitated Learning programs. Lisa has
played an integral role in current scientific studies examining the
horse/human connection. Lisa has a Bachelor of Science degree from
Arizona State University in Business and Interpersonal Communications
and has started and developed several businesses. She co-founded
and served on the Board of Directors for Burst.com, a digital media
delivery company in Northern California. She also served as President
of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society in Mendocino,
California. She is a graduate of the three-year program at the
School for Enlightenment and Healing in San Diego, CA.
Lizbeth Hamlin, MA, LMFT
Lizbeth is a practicing Jungian oriented psychotherapist
in Santa Rosa. She has over 30 years experience as a therapist. In
addition she brings somatic, dream work and EMDR to her unique practice
assisting people in understanding and expressing their unique life
story. She has been a practitioner and teacher of Authentic
Movement for over 25 years, a practice that aids in the
development of the “inner witness,” allowing for one to trust what
arises naturally and organically in our journey through life.
Lizbeth has over 25 years of dressage training. She competed
successfully to FEI levels; receiving USDF bronze and silver metals.
Lizbeth’s study of language, poetry, myth making and the archetype of
horse, allow her to bring a unique body of knowledge to the Equine
Experiential Learning (EEL) process. She has worked together,
co-facilitating Equine Experiential Learning workshops with both Lisa
Walters, founder of the EquuSatori Center and industry pioneer, Barbara
Rector, MA, (Adventures in Awareness) to help people deepen their
journey between human and horse.
Barbara Kathleen Rector, MA
Barbara Kathleen Rector is the originator of the Adventures In Awareness
programs. Barbara brings the expertise of over 25 years working in therapeutic
riding to her teaching with the AIA/EEL institute. She is a co-founder
of TROT (Therapeutic Riding of Tucson, Inc.).
In 1990, Barbara obtained her Masters of Art
with an emphasis in Spiritual Psychology from the College of
Holy Names in Oakland, California. While at the Institute of
Culture and Creation Centered Spirituality, she worked as an
intake counselor and group facilitator at the Center for
Attitudinal Healing in Tiburon, CA. She completed her thesis and
worked as manager for the National Center for Equine Facilitated
Therapy (NCEFT) in Woodside, CA. She is a 1965 Graduate of The
University of Arizona, with bachelors’ degrees in Philosophy and
English. In the early 1990s, Barbara co-founded FETE, Medicine
Horse, in Flagstaff, Arizona and developed and coordinated
Sierra Tucson’s Integrated Riding Resource Program. While
training the hospital staff in her equine-facilitated
experiential process work, she developed the Adventures in
Awareness program. She currently resides in Tucson Arizona. She
